“GaiaPalooza will be a campus-wide [outdoor] concert event featuring members from Voice of the Wetlands foundation as well as other local New Orleans musicians. The whole event is to raise 
environmental awareness, specifically on the wetlands of Louisiana. In addition we’re having local artists, craftspeople, and food vendors come sell their stuff. Everybody is donating 5% of their profits to an environmental non-profit for wetlands preservation. Finally, we’re having local environmental organizations set up tables to inform our student body about their causes.” Friday, April 20, 2007, 3:30 PM to 8:00 PM
Christian Champagne is scheduled to appear on the main stage at 6:30 PM. There will be an alternate indoor location in case of rain.

‘There ain’t no joy like a nint’ wawd boy.’ Christian Champagne will be presenting a program focusing on his book of poems “Roach Opera” at Jefferson Parish Library - East in the Meeting Room. A question-and-answer session and book signing will follow. More information is on the library’s calendar here.
The book will be available for purchase at the event, made possible by and benefiting Friends of Jefferson Public Library. Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at 7:00 PM.

Statewide launch of “Louisiana in Words”

Saturday, April 21, 2007, 1-3 PM, is the statewide launch date for “Louisiana in Words“.
“Although there have been plenty of “day in the life” picture books, never before has a book sought to capture a single day in a state with words like this. Created from submissions received from the world over, this anthology offers an authentic diary of Louisiana. One hundred twenty nonfiction selections from known and unknown writers run chronologically from dawn to dawn, each capturing one minute in time. From Tallulah to Thibodaux, Shreveport to St. Martinville, New Iberia to New Orleans, together these minutes provide a mosaic of the landscape, heritage, speech, and traditions of Louisiana unlike anything before them.”
The book’s contributors will be present at simultaneous events across the state on this date, so it should not be hard to find an event near you. All of the events will feature contributors reading from the book and signing copies after the event. Many will have a short Q & A session with the authors as well, once they have all finished reading. A complete list of the events is available from Pelican Publishing.
Christian Champagne will be at the Garden District Book Shop event along with Iain Baird, Gina Ferrara, Fredrick Barton, Kelly Wilson, and Sunday Angleton.
